The Say's Phoebe found yesterday by Kevin Manley and Todd Eggenberger was
still present on 170th Street about .7 mile south of 140 Avenue, near the
giant crane. Seen northeast of here in the gravel pit area were Lark

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about Chestnut-collared

Hi -
With all the excitement about the Western Wood Peewee in west-central MN, I
am curious to know if anybody has had a chance to pop up to Felton Prairie
to check on the Chestnut-collared Longspurs?
Any reports, pro or con, would be helpful. Thanks.

A nice visit to Felton Prairie this morning netted my 300th Minnesota bird;
the Chestnut-collared Longspur.
Also a few Marbled Godwit flying about and chatting up a storm.
Other notables were: Bobolink, Grasshopper Sparrow, LeConte's Sparrow,

Steve Gardner and I birded Felton Prairie this morning from 7:30-11:00. Here

know
about road conditions there with all the recent rain. Specifically I'm

believe). I'm looking to make the trip this Saturday.
Thanks,

Many thanks to all who provided input on my questions. I suppose I should
have clarified that I wasn't specifically going to Felton for those 3
species. I just want a dose of prairie birds for a change of pace and
Felton is the closest suitable habitat to me. I thought, as long as I

I just received the following from Brian Gibbons, who was birding on June 7 at
Felton Prairie in Clay Co:
"Note the road from the farm house going south into Felton prairie is washed

the van by driving in the grass as
I spent most of the day searching for Longspurs on the Felton Prairie north of
Clay County 26 with some additional stops on the way home. I totaled 100
species for the day with 17 warblers.
The highlight for me was definitely a very vocal and active male GOLDEN-WINGED
WARBLER (I just had my
