The best idea is to rename the FHG dll to, say, in_mp3fhg.dll. This
ensures that the Winamp installer will not overwrite it. Then uncheck
the 'Layer 3' box

I'm looking for a DOS/Win cmd line or even GUI util to do some or all of the
following:
Given: ARTIST_ -_ ALBUM_ -_ 01_ -_ TITLE.MP3
use a cmd line like RENMP3 ARTIST_ -_ ALBUM_ -_ 01_ -_ TITLE.MP3 3 4
to produce 01 - TITLE.MP3 or 01 - Title.MP3
Given: ARTIST - ALBUM - 1 - TITLE.MP3

Lame will store its version number into the first (or more?) frame of
the mp3-file. With an old mp3-file, or an mp3-file converted by another
person, i can not see with what options the file was built. Is it
possible to include the options into the first frame? For example:

Hi!
New test piece: "The Ecstasy Of Gold" by Ennio Morricone; <10sec; (very
complex part!)
The Encoders: lame 3.70; lame 3.81BETA; FHG 3.1DEMO; SCMPX 1.51; (constant
bitrate; 128kb/sec; highest possible quality;)
Personal rating (sound quality only):
1st place: The original sample.
2nd place:
I took all of this into consideration, but the binary hosted on mp3-tech.org
is nearly twice the size of the one on chat.ru

Of course, we should. Has anyone done so by now? Please confirm.

Sorry, that would have been 2.64... Thanks for the confirmation. Then my old
in_mp3.dll mustn't have been overwritten during the setup. And the URL will be:
http://www.sulaco.org/mp3/winamp/
Has anyone informed nullsoft about it?

Hi all.
I usually encode music from cd like a:
$lame -h -b 192 input.wav output.mp3
Now I (discovered) tried option --preset cd,
which parameters are equal to those I use,
but there are some differences (no transitional band)...
Is that cd preset better than my usual commandline?
Is there some
Fascinating - how can you write an article on all these systems and completely
miss myplay.com?
Especially since much of my.mp3.com is a copy of myplay.com

Hi,
This formula is meant to calculate the threshold for MDCT from the threshold
for FFT. It indeed only works when that threshold is calculated for every
frequency bin.

Hi there
just tested the latest Sonique player which claims its new MP3
decoder, AE4, is of "ultra high fidelity".
Guess again.
I tried the sweep and 100only mp3s and the blips and dropouts were,
to my ears, virtually identical to Winamp's Nitrane decoder. And they
still haven't rectified this
