Hello,
not purely mp3, but...
I want to buy a soundcard, and am hesitating between the SoundBlaster 128 (~25$) and
the SounBlaster 1024 Live (~60$).
Main Usage:
- playing my mp3 collection (mainly 128kbs quality) on my (very standard) HiFi
equipement
- converting my old audio tapes to mp3
Hi,
I don't know how hard it is to get lame converted to a win32 codec,
but I think it would have it's uses.
Any win32 people wanting to give it a shot?
I first was recalcitrant to the idea, but this mail has shown me a
different perspective (it's like the 10th I get of these):

I just bought a SoundBlaster 1024 live and compared to my old SoundBlaster
16 ASP I see no advantage for doing what you want unless you intend to
listen with a 4 speaker set up (2 rear) I know of no improvement in SNR or
distortion.

Yes, sorry; I prefer to develop under Linux. The code could still be used as a
guide.
Note that while the code works with any audio layer, maduration.c doesn't
support MPEG

A more complete implementation can be found in the MAD distribution:

Ooooh! I like! :-D
In fact, I just hacked up TekNap (a curses-based Napster client clone, see

Which encoding engines are being used in MusicMatch and Realaudio Jukebox?
I seem to remember some discussion here about the Fraunhoffer encoder in
MusicMatch being crippled (not bitrate limited but missing some "features").
Which program has the better encoder? Can either one use LAME as an
