I had a look through our configure.in and those directories are not
mentioned at all. So I am not sure where they are picked up from.
In fact, when I grep the entire MPIR distribution, it doesn't find
them. There must be something set in your environment that it is

seems to be behaving differently than GMP 5.x. On the Linux system
