What's with the seven county area and light rail? Why would you add
lanes to the Crosstown and 35W and not run light rail down the middle?
Wouldn't commuters want to park in a suburban lot and take the train

Here's a small but important "what happened to my tax
bill?" item to keep in mind.
Last year's tax bill included a plan to gradually
phase out the limited-market-value mechanism between
2001-2006. This mechanism was meant to help
homeowners make the transition into higher tax bills

There are kids being forced to attend high school that have
absolutely no interest in being there. So they get
themselves in trouble and disrupt the education of
others. I think at some point we will have to look at
options for these kids, personally I favor trade

How many of the 1,200 middle eastern men arrested-but-not-charged nationwide

public knowledge that could be put on this list?

This coming February ( I Love to Read Month), the Waite Park Community
School PTA will be sponsoring a Read-a-thon Fundraiser for the first time.
I'm looking for a little insight and advice from anyone who has been
involved with Read-a-thons in Minneapolis Public Schools (K-6). I'd

I may be wading into quicksand on this one, but are folks opposed to
paying more property taxes if a home actually does increase in value?
It seems many neighborhoods are working to increase property values and,
when they do increase on account of neighborhood efforts, shouldn't the

I'm a novice to this debate but I can immediately see some of the
concerns. In a neighborhood like Central some homes have tripled in value
in the last 5-10 yrs. This looks like a wonderful return but it's not all

equity (fairness) is not a fixed concept--no surprise
there. Some think a flat tax is the way to go, while
others want to see a comprehensive progressive wealth
tax developed. Without agreeing on what fairness
means, discussing the other parts ge

The ideal here would be to cap taxes on people at age 65. Let them pay
taxes at the same rate until they sell their home. You can keep upping
the valuation, but the taxes stay the same. This would allow retired
people to stay in their homes longer instead of being priced
