I may not know much about wildlife, but I can recognize deer tracks. And I
may not be a good golfer, and that is why I saw deer tracks in one of the
sand traps on the Hiawatha Golf Course this morning.

I, for one, am sick and tired of the newscasters - primarily the TV ones -
making sport of snow removal rules in Minneapolis. They begin the piece by
saying, "Now, listen up, this is complicated" and then proceed to roll their
eyes and make the situation even worse because they do not understa
I just heard on the news that an amendment to the stadium bill called for
money to implement noise insulation around the airport. I don't know who
offered the amendment, but I just want to say I think it set back the cause
of airport noise mitigation more than anything else I can think of.
I, too, would welcome Catherine Shreves in the Minnesota Senate should
redistricting allow her to run (if she wants) for Myron Orfield's spot.
Surely Minneapolis Schools would feel the loss. Therefore, this situation
is probably the best argument for cloning I have heard yet :)

Hooray for courageous Phil Riveness for pointing out that the MAC has failed
to keep its promise to the people living around the airport. Using his
position as a Metro Council Member to block the release of funds for MAC
until they agree to reinstate the noise insulation program out to the 60
It was interesting to hear that Mr. Duffy, the attorney who had been
investigating the Brian Herron matter, had some recommendations for avoiding
such incidents in the future. One of them was that the City Council should
have a constituent complaint office. I remember writing a post to this g
I don't know about anyone else, but the emotion I feel most deeply over the
recent events at City Hall is one of sadness. As a person who has spent her
entire adult life in the political arena, I find the current "Sillyapolis" as
bad as "Murderapolis".
Let's face it, people will disagree abou
I think a lot of people have missed the 24 hour post office at the airport
while all the construction has been going on out there. The new one is now
open (last week) and I mailed items from there last night. It is big, bright
and harder than the devil to find. So for all those who might wan
When I started thinking about the great restaurants and clubs that used to be
in Minneapolis, I was struck by the fact that they were all men's names:
Charlie's, Harry's, Freddy's, Big Al's (saw Cab Calloway there.) Oh yes,
there was the Mar Key club that wasn't a man's name.

I haven't seen this one mentioned yet by anyone adding to this thread.

I think some people better take a deep breath, step back a few feet and
re-evaluate the idea of a referendum to fund the NRP. Worthwhile as the
projects it fund might be, I think there will be a whole host of folks who

I just have to jump into this thread - the points being made and argued
certainly need to be aired.
Let me start by saying that I have a lot of respect for the lobbying staff
from Minneapolis and I thought Andrea Hart Kajer's post set forth how the
staff goes about its work. I didn't think it
Let's face it folks, the line between real and unreal has blurred a lot
thanks to television. Nightly news has to be entertaining or no one watches
say the TV executives. Sports heroes wander over into politics. No one
stays in their niches anymore.
I like the idea of the Mary Richards stat
Great post by list moderator Dave Brauer. Why didn't the City choose to help
Target refurbish a place in City Center? It certainly would have been
cheaper.
As I read the Star Tribune piece, the whole thing just doesn't make any
sense. I don't see a downtown Target being the place someone
Okay, folks, I will admit it. I just don't understand the whole discussion
of the proposed tax changes by the Legislature and the pronouncements by the
School administration that terrible cuts will have to be made because of
those changes.
If I heard correctly, I thought the state was going t

I would just like to say thank you to all the list members who kept those of

Certainly there were surprises. Usually the DFL casts out anyone who says

I have been mulling over Craig Miller's recent post regarding the role
individuals might play in helping to supply affordable housing. His
proposition was that 1000 homeowners in Minneapolis buying, rehabbing and
renting out properties would not only help the housing situation, but could

I really like this thread because it has made me think hard about what I like
and don't like about the City. And as I thought about it, it kept getting

I wholeheartedly agree that the likes set Minneapolis apart from other
cities. And the urban forest is wonderful. Lack
Is MNDot mad at the City of Minneapolis for its questioning of the proposed
reconstruction of Highway 62 Crosstown and getting even by lack of
maintenance. The road is a joke from France Avenue through the Commons area
with potholes big enough to swallow small cars. Today I had to laugh at th
In the ongoing saga of posts on airport noise, Dean Lindberg was critical of
some past decisions by City officials, and particularly the Mayor, in regard
to a possible new airport. Unfortunately I have a long memory and some of

I, too, thought the exchange between Russ and Carol Becker was a very good

I will really miss Russ's postings about this City.
