Dave,
We currently do archiving to DASD, and let HSM migrate the datasets to tape after 1 day. This eliminates the problems with bad tape headers, no tape drives available, etc. It was very easy to do, just changed the CSQ6ARVP macro in the ZParms member.

At a pretty high level, that's exactly right. You may note that the conditions
required for a trigger event are actually somewhat more involved and the
responsibility of the triggered application is to completely drain the queue. Also,
take precautions if you are using syncpoints (and you should

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You can have multiple CKBR transactions running, each against a different
queue if you wish. You don't need a different transaction name, just plain
ol' CKBR will do. The monitor will 'watch' the queue that the request
message is written to, I assume you are triggering the CKBR when a message

Hi,
There's a supportpac (MA86, MQSeries and Firewalls) that says "MQSeries
behaves just like many other TCPIP applications; e.g. HTTP."
Not sure if this statement applies in any context, but it looks like it
should be working.
I don't think the routers & gateways should worry you. Perhaps respo
Hi Enrico,
They say the answer is "yes" but I did not try it myself. The service packs MS81 and
MA86 will give you all necessary tools and information.
Hope this will help

I don't have this problem. Are you sure you are allocating 5.3 libraries
for each of the DDNAMES in your TSO logon (SYSEXEC, ISPTLIB, ISPPLIB,
ISPMLIB, ISPSLIB)?

So long as both your machine and the other machine have DNS entries so they
can use DNS to look up the other machine's IP address, then it should work.
At one stage, the IP address of a qmgr needed to be fixed, but as of (I
think) MQ 5.2, the IP address can move so long as the DNS name remains

Dave, someone
mentioned this just the other day/week. He may have mentioned a fix for it --
was it that a SCQSTBLE file was added? (That may not have been the fix for the
PF4 thing, so don't take it as gospel). I'm not a V5.3 yet, so am not speak
MQ has an extension called "internet pass-thru" (MQIPT) which tunnels the
MQ channels inside HTTP. There is a document, MS81 SCRIPT on IBM MQ
website which explains how to do it. I haven't had an opportunity to
try it. Would love to know how it works out for you. Thanks

Well maybe if the powers that be will satisfy your request they would also

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to connect two queue managers using
sender/receiver channels over the internet?
gut-feel says maybe not (I do not have the facilities to test this)

I’m not
certain if any of you have experienced this (or is it just a problem w/my
CSQ0REXX exec?), but w/our upgrade to 5.3 our PF4 prompt key doesn’t give
a complete list of objects. It DOES indicate that there are “more”,
but PF8 just
