Doug,
Since 2.1 is out of support, I think you are walking on thin Ice here. I
recommend you install 5.3.1, that way if there are any issues, they will
be fixed. (IMOO)

I wound up using the ms0i supportpac. The embedded documentation says it's
for WMQ5.2, but if you go to the IBM site and read that, it says it's for
5.2 and above. It worked great.

Hi:
We are moving One of our Queue Manager in the Cluster to a New Machine. I
have downloaded MS03 SupportPac(saveqmgr) to copy the Queue definitions and
amqoamd to copy over the Security information.
I am wondering that Is there way of creating the Channel and Cluster
information to a Script
ms03 will capture all MQ definitions - queues, channels, namelists, certain
QM attributes. You can then change the outputted file's connames on all the
channel defs to suit your new set up.
Other than the channels' conname parameter, there is no other Server info
needed as far as rebuilding the
Historically, the queue managers I run have used the default settings for
the number and size if the logs (they were like that when I got here).
Traffic has nearly tripled in the past two years, and I started to see
evidence in the error logs that transactions were being backed out to free
up log
I have never run saveqmgr on a cluster qmgr, but the DEFINE CHANNEL
statements will be in the script for sure (and I assume the cluster
definitions to). And the resulting flat file saveqmgr produces is editable
for sure.
I would suggest doing a dry run. Run the saveqmgr utility on the existing
Did you rebuild the QMgrs using crtmqm? If so, you have to specify -ll
-lf4096 switch. You can't just edit the qm.ini

Bill,
I'm the author of supportpac MS0I and glad to hear it worked for you.
The usefulness of the supportpac has diminished since WMQ v5.2.0.4 but
it should continue to work as long as the output of amqoamd doesn't
change. WMQ v5.2 CSD04 changed the output format of amqoamd and more

Yes, the command was crtmqm -ll -lf 4096 QMGR. When the queue manager was

Bill,
When he does this and creates two QMgrs with the same name in the cluster, he will
have to issue a RESET QMGR command to clear the temporary one (or at least the old
one) from the cluster. Does the command force you to use a QMID when it finds two
QMgrs with the same name, or does it
Unless, of course, you don't want to read discussions about any of this,

Tony,
we use a VMWare Node for our development config manager server. First we
do not try to keep the channels open to the broker qmgrs, we use a channel
disconnect interval of 6000, and have not had any problems with the
channels. We also use AdoptNewMCA on all our queue managers.

The qm.ini file with 10 primary and 5 secondary logs is the LEGACY system.
It was created before I started here, and increasing those values was the
only way I could get more log space.
