Um... Mutt always deletes messages after saving them. It's always done
that.

You must have autoedit set? Normally, Mutt will ask you for the
recipient (To:) and the subject before the editor is started. Y

simple, but after a couple of runs through the docs I still haven't
found a way to do it.
My current hack:
bind index v save-message
macro index s "dKv"
This doesn't work if you try to save the last message in your in box.
