port problems with OS X client libraries

any port other than 3306. I've even tried a GUI client (SQL4X manager) that ships with its on client libraries... but to no avail. There are no firewalls or tcp/wrapper issues, the clients just always try to connect to port 3306, regardless of what I specify. Any clues? thanks, adam ar
