any port other than 3306. I've even tried a GUI client (SQL4X
manager) that ships with its on client libraries... but to no avail.
There are no firewalls or tcp/wrapper issues, the clients just always
try to connect to port 3306, regardless of what I specify.
Any clues?

have gotten around it by
using the mysqladmin and the root password, but I'd rather not
have the password in the StartupItem script.
Any help you can give on this will be appreciated...
