I have one product already using a mySQL database. We just inherited a new
product (via an acquisition) that uses it's own mySQL database which we're
going to stick on the same server. My manager wants me to setup a second
instance of mySQL on the machine for the new product's database. I
I can't remember my root password. I know that there is a way to set it by
starting mysql with certain parameters, but I can't remember what those
parameters are. Can you help me out? Thanks!

How do you tell mysql what ip to listen on for connections? I'm remember
seeing a configuration file for this sort of thing somewhere, but the exact
file escapes me at the moment. Any help you could give would be great!

I just installed mysql-3.23.43-sun-solaris2.7-sparc, but I can not get it to
start up. Here's the error I'm getting:
./bin/safe_mysqld --log --log-update
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from
/koz/mysql-3.23.43-sun-solaris2.7-sparc/data
./bin/safe_mysqld:
the following
error:
i686-cmp-adabas,mysql, 691 bytes, 2 tape blocks
tar: directory checksum error
Any help you could give would be great!
Thanks,
Chris Stefanick
