Hi all,
Larry Brown tried to help me out with this one (much appreciated Larry),
anyways, when I start up fedora I get this error from mysql that says it
has timed out...it still works, but this error shows up in the mysql
logs:
040104 18:38:37 mysqld started

If you are using a myisam type which is default that log message isn't a
problem. By switching to run level 5 does it work again? I switch
between
run levels on a regular basis so it shouldn't be the runlevel itsel

The error is just telling you the server isn't there. Is this RH?
If it is run..
#>service mysqld restart
and see what messages you get if any and also check /var/log/
Hi all,
I was able to get mysql up and running and installed phpBB to boot.
Upons reboot I noticed that the mysql daemon was timing out...when I log
into it this is the error I get:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# mysql -u root -p

Now I need to tighten up the security on it...I am going to install

It's great to be able to post here and a privilege. Ok..now
that I have warmed you up:)...I have installed Mysql tonight using a
fresh install of Debian 3. r2. All went fine till I put in the password
for the Mysql..this is what the docs said to put:
mysql>SET PASSWORD FOR 'root
