Is the server-id of slave different from that of master?
Check this.
both the serverid's must be different..

hi ,i got this error 3 -4 times ,then i reinstalled
mysql the it used to work properly.
Once i come baack to office the next day run the page

tried to install them on linux.
when i use the command rpm -i mysqlpackname in shell
it says
error:can't get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/packages
error:can't open packages database in /var/lib/rpm
what shall i do.
