Have you create a startup script in /etc/rc.d?
I believe you haven't created a startup script and you should type in ps -gax
to see if mysql is running.

- What version of mysql are you trying to install?
- Maybe, look at deleteing all the current mysql rpm with the rpm command and
try it without the --no-deps option.
- Or install a prevous version of mysql?
