I have the same problem with executing mysql_install_db in mysql 4.1 after
compiling it on debian 3.0, lust like Bug #2915 installation of grant tables
failed!
after sucessfully configure (./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql
--with-innodb) make make install and executing

I'm trying to install MySQL-server-4.1.1-1.i386.rpm on a RH-8 Linux.
System after systme check says than need LIBMYSQLCLIENT.SO.10 file to
continue.
Can somebody help me with this situation please?

I have a redhat 9 box.I had both mysql 4.0 and 4.1 installed on it and running
separately.Today one of user of 4.1 wanted to change the max connections
allowed to the server and so she logged into the 4.1 as root and changed the
tables in mysql database.after that she shutdown the database
