Glad to here it. I hadn't tried it myself, but I heard that it helped under
some circumstances. You'll take a small performance hit for the case where
you're dealing with lots of small files I've heard.
I haven't tried XFS.
I Just installed RH7.2 on a box last weekend using the ext3
always fails under reiserfs partition

FWIW, I'm not convinced reiserfs is ready for prime time, at least not on
all hardware (Any chance you're running a Via chipset MB?). I've had some
serious stability problems when trying out reiserfs that magically
disapeared
