Can anyone pl tell me as to how I can resolve a missing mysql.sock
problem??? Can anyone pl send me the mysql.sock file??? been trying to
start mysql for the past 3 days and everytime am getting a unable to
connect localhost error, missing mysql.sock

When I install mysql rpm , he puts it in
/var/lib/mysql directory
then, when I try to start mysql, he says that he can't
find mysql.sock in /tmp/mysql.sock
I donno why he is looking for it there, probably
because I had binary version of mysql in
/usr/local/mysql dir before.
mysql.sock is in
the server creates the mysql.sock directory wherever you tell
it to .. check /etc/my.cnf
Once that is setup properly, server and client should agree.
If you leave it in /tmp, then set the /tmp sticky bit to stop
it getting accidently rm'd
