Already running the latest according to urpmi ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.pre1.4mdk is there a cvs version available? some of the mpeg encoding options are in cvs, not any released version (pre or otherwise) The only thing I found in the archives was to use --transcode, but that disables export to DVD.

Yeah. In my case these boxes are just front ends since the PVR family of cards don't really fit very well so I haven't cared very much about disk speed. If it was a back-end then I'd be a bit more concerned, but even 12MB/S will source a number of live streams so it shouldn't cause huge problems

The OP just wanted to be able to capture a show every night and then loop it endlessly the next day. Scripting Myth is a good idea, but overkill for that problem. If the front-end machine is just displaying video and nothing else, then he could skip the whole MythTV frontend (and X11 for that

That's why I was specifically mentioning the older Pundit, not the -R. The older Pundit also has better/easier support for the onboard video card and such. It only supports only up to 533MHz FSB, but if you're only using it for frontend, it'll be plenty. If you're in US, I believe
