You can do this outside of MythTV.
Use amixer to switch the balance of your input (I'm assuming your tuner card

I could see this working in a few ways. First your going to have to find a
changer for which a linux utility set exists. Many of these players have
documentation on the serial protocol they use..which should make
controlling them fairly simple (something Like "echo command >/dev/stty0").

1) 64 Bit MythTV works with some caveats.

tray opens the tray pushes open a folding down door. That door is smooth
(fluid bearings or hydraulics?).

I'm using my IPAQ HP2215 - it's a nice little PocketPC and includes Remote
Software. The IR Transmitter is about 30 feet.
The major hassle with an IPAQ as your remote is as follows:
1) Battery Life is terrible. Think 8 hours with periodic IR use.
2) As a Remote it "Just-Feels-Wrong" - the WAF Quot
This has been reported as bug with Nvidia Cards on the AMD64 platform.
You have two options.
1) Run Linux in 32 bit mode - the xvmc drivers work in 32bit mode.
2) Pester Nvidia for a new AMD64 driver.

You are able to choose the recording profile used to make the recording when
