it records in the wrong place because the meta information is wrong. i
looked around zap2it listings. for zip code 30316 (atl), there are 4
listings but none of them are showing the right informations.

Using a D865G (6 PCI slots) and PVR-500's you could do 12 on the PCI
bus. Since I already have the D865G, if anyone wants to send me 6

I am running 18.1-3 (Debian) and it has a check-box on the 5th or 6th
page of the mythtv-setup "General settings" dialog that says "Start
auto commercial flagging jobs when recording starts". My flagging is
always done about 5 minutes after the recording has finished.

Maybe it's a Hw thing. I'm going to try the firmware that came with the
m179and see what happens as soon as I can figure out how to translate
P2Driver.sys into the ivtv-fw-x.bin files.
Why don't you run a MD5 on the M179 firmware and compare it to the
Hauppauge ones? They might be the same.
For what it's worth, HDTV signals are only broadcast on UHF so if you
only want to receive HDTV, you may as well just get a UHF antenna.
That's not correct. CBS in Chicago is broadcasting HDTV on VHF.

you can change the duplicate check method from "Subtitle and
Description" to "None", which should then record all of the episodes

to want to put backticks around the table names. look at your
backup file and see if they are "INSERT INTO `record` ".

I wonder if they supply a normal mounting bracket somehow?
They didn't in the one that I purchased (and returned). To fabricate
one you'd need to able to cut the holes in the right places for the
connectors. May be more than you're willing to do.
The Pundit-R already has the riser card so the PVRs are parallel to
the motherboard.
The 150 low profile looks like a very reasonable solution. Not, I
think, as well tested as the other PVR cards but worth a shot.

was inability to FF/REW on the TS streams. But their June 3rd firmware
release fixed that.

single tuner and maybe software is remembering which channel to show

mythfilldatabase into crontab, you'll be smacked in the head with vi.
I still don't know how to do more than quit vi, but I do know how to
change my default editor now!
crontab honors the EDITOR shell variable. You could:

There's just one thing that's bothering me: Every time I run low on HD
space on my video partition ( < 4 GB left ), mythbackend will start
eating up a lot of CPU resources. (As in: 0% idle, jerky video
playback, dropped frames while recording) This stops as soon as I free
up some more space.
