Just another datapoint - I've been using a software raid setup for 12
months now with no issues with mythtv. My raid arrays are in a
seperate machine from my dedicated backend and two frontends, they are
all networked over gigibit ethernet using NFS. I've recorded 4
streams from PVR250s before wh

I've never had a problem with it, although I'm only running one tuner
card.
The problem might be with delayed writes of lock

Or just use JFS instead of XFS.
My greatest fear with the hardware raid is what would happen to it if
something failes in the system itself. If my PC with softRAID dies, I
can connect the disks to any Linux PC and it will recognize the RAID.

That's my current dilemna!
Do i move everything over to JFS or is the hardware RAID worth the money!?
I am still not sure why it doesn't like the dual recordings (did you
ever have that problem Blammo?) and why it only happens on Raid...

Chris,
You raise some good points. I've always been a little concerned about
whether or not both my tuners are setup properly. I am using a PVR500
dual tuner, and i was never sure the difference between Source: 1/2
and Channel: 1/2.
Perhaps you are right about the following:

I have 1.5tb in 300gb drives in a Raid 5 configuration. This is my MythTV
video directory. My record for simultaneous recordings was 5 (1xfoot ball
game, 1xSG1,1xSimpsons,1xSouth Park, and 1xMovie). All recordings were fine,
spread among 2xPVR 250's, 2xHD3000's, and 1xMercury TV Tuner.
