If I had something better than an old SoundBlaster Live sound card, I
would route my audio as Mike described. However, my sound card only
takes mono input and sounds absolutely terrible. So I simply send
both the PVR-350's audio out and my sound card's audio out to a

Nope. The PVR-350 outputs (TV out /and/ audio out) are *only* used when
using the PVR-350 decoder, which can *only* be used to decode MPEG-2.

See below.
Is that the only way to hear audio when you are using mplayer,
Yep.

Brad,
Why do you need to use both the PVR350 audio output and your sound cards
output? Is that the only
way to hear audio when you are using mplayer, or could you not redirect sound
to the PVR350 sound
out when using mplayer? As you can tell I haven't ventured into playing with

Yup, works perfect (see attached)
I would assume that you have followed Jarad Wilson's guide in this matter? One
thing I missed in
his guide at first is a patch you need to apply to /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.
Without that patch, you
will need to load lirc by hand after every reboot:

My remote works like a charm. Here's my modprobe.conf. My lirc conf
is a bit big to include on the list. If you'd like to see it, let me
know and I can post it or email it to you.
My only issue was that I am using the 350's TV-Out for audio (as well
as my sound card) so I wanted to map the

Success!! What I ended up doing is removing the IVTV drivers (via
apt-get remove) and commenting the ivtv stuff out of my modprobe.conf,
then testing it.
My bttv card worked.
I then re-installed the IVTV drivers and it worked again.
Then I added everything back to
