Hi Darren,
did you check the commands on command line as root or as nagios user?
Because i think your problem is the user which runs the commands.

I had success with the first service eventhandler we implemented and
am now trying to duplicate it for a second service (with a slightly
modified eventhandler script) and failing. The eventhandler that is
failing is for the "Argus Daemon" service on host quagmire, and the
failure is that although t
Found one that works just like I was looking for. Thanks:

Hi Estevao,
on this page http://www.consol.com/opensource/nagios/check-logfiles you will
a lot of documentation and a download link for check_logfiles.exe. This
plugin was written to search patterns in files. It will run on your Windows
server, so you don't have to export a share with the logfile
Thanks a lot.
@James Pratt: Yeap, I'm kind a new to this and I'll take some time to
analize your script, but this I'll be a valuable asset to me.
@Marc Powell: I'll look deep into check_log doc to see what I can do then.
Thanks!
If anyone else has another solution, please, fell free to contribu

First, is there an existing check script that will look at a network

Some of the problems that I can see with writting one is if there are errors
or collisions then it will be in an error state until it is reset to 0. I
have ran into this in the past
Youll put on your plugin the exit codes of nagios.

Ok, Lets suppose I mount my path on samba and cat the result with cat and
grep. How do I put this onto nagios?
And there is a problem here... This should return and OK or NOT OK for
example. I'm still clueless about how to do that.
Thanks for you info anyway
Hi Estavam, did you tried mount the directory of the log archive via SAMBA
and read then whit cat and grep?

I have nagio 3.01 running ok on a debian etch install.
I have a Windows Server 2k who runs an important software for my company and
it has a routine to run a .bat file an log the progress on a .txt file on my

Hi,
The Nagios plugins should return codes based on the POSIX.
Probably your plugin is returning a code out of this range.
Take a look:

Hello Everyone,
I have searched the archives and also googled for my scenario, but have
not found any answers that relate.
I am running Nagios 3.0.5 stable to monitor a few servers and services.
For one particular SAP server, I am using the check_sap_ccms service to
check some SAP services. Se

It writes the retention file with rather frequent intervals, such as
when it has done "enough" checks (where "enough" is determined sort of
intelligently on a per-installation
Does anybody know if Nagios _always_ write the retention file when
reloading/restarting?
