Elaine,
This is the same argument I had when LED first hit the market. If I
applied each layer of gel in 10 seconds for a whole hand, sure it
would help. But I don't. I am always working or cleaning up if the
client is in the lamp - never waiting for the cure to finish other

I would love a 10 second cure time. I often finish my gel application on the
second hand and then have to wait for the lamp. This would really help for the

Marsha,
If you are going to use shellac make sure you get a lamp with a fan,
Shellac is part polish and needs the fan for drying I have used my non
fan lamp with shellac but it really does make a difference with that
fan. If I could do it again I would have gotten a fan in the lamp
which I got
Elaine,
I use different gels and the same uv lamp ( eco lamp) for them I do
one hand at a time, and pull out the cnd lamp for when I polish or use
shellac because of the fan in it.
I use gelousy one step( 4 ms), star nail thick clear ( 10 yrs ), eco
soak off gel( 4 ms), shellac(3ms), and am

Thanks for the input, Kelley. I have my old Brisa lamp to cure my Shellac and I
haven't noticed a problem. Maybe that's an indication the Eco lamp doesn't have
the UV output to fully cure the Shellac. This is what I need to know.

I have used the lamp from Star to cure shellac and it worked just fine.

Lorraine,
Instead of applying 2 coats of base gel in a scrubbing manner on weak/damaged
nails, can we just apply 1 thicker coat as if applying the pigmented gel polish
or do you still recommend 2 coats of base gel be applied in a scrubbing manner
for these types of nails? Thanks so much, Peggy
Peggy,
I am going to have to go with the 2 thinner coats thought. My
reasoning is I belive you will get a better bond. Some have been
indicting peeling with thicker coats of all these brands not just eco
when it is applied to thickly. More layers will increase the soak
time, but I belive
Ditto! AND one thing I like about LEDs is that the lamp doesn't have to be an
additional 3 inches deep to account for the ballasts on the bulbs like with
traditional flourescents! I'd love a design that keeps my clients from whacking
their nails against the interior back wall of the lamp
I don't have a fan in my light and Shellac (as well as the others) cure
perfectly! I do have phillips bulbs. (4- 9 watt bulbs)

Marsha,
Yes that is what I understand, gels that are not formulated to cure
in a LED lamp will either not cure properly or will cause extreme
heat spikes. I have no real proof to give you but I do know I heard
that maybe even from Elaine.
