I've also used What they call "sponges" that I purchased from dental suppliers. I used 2x2 cotton-filled, non-sterile gauze pads for about half ( or even less) than what the beauty industry charges for a sleeve of 200. I use these to remove polish and to wipe finished gel nails with alcohol.
