The common tool used to punch a chassis is a chassis Punch sometimes
called a Greeenlee punch after the major manufacturer.
A drill, one or two of those, a nibbler tool, and a file or two will get you
far.

These same tools will work with plastic, though you need to take a bit
more care.
I decided to switch gases temporarily, CO2 instead of neon. I bought one of
the cheap Chinese laser
cutters, and plan to swap out the primitive control board and software for

Thanks. I agree it is hard to find just the one on eBay. It took me
some time to find a nice one. Antique shops might be good or get lucky
at a garage sale. At least you would be able to touch it and actually
see what your buying. Good hunting
Laser cutting wood ? Does't that give burned edges ?
Yes it does. It can be removed by sanding or covered by painting, or accounted
for by design,
but it's (AFAIK) unavoidable.

Or use the Greenlee hole punches, a bi-metal hole saw of the correct
size, or a fly cutter used in a 'drill press'. CAUTION!!! Do not use a
fly cutter in anything but a 'drill press'. Greenlee hole punches can
be found on Ebay up to over four inches in diameter, and as small as
3/8. The
