Ok - I got it to work. In 5.2.1, I had removed the init_snmp() call
because we handle our own config file. By adding this back in, as
init_snmp("") it works. I had noticed that a GET to the right community
returned error, but the wrong community didn't return anything at all,

I installed the net-snmp on FC4 for x86_64 with the
following rpms
dmidecode-2.6-1.14.x86_64.rpm,
lm_sensors-2.8.8-5.x86_64.rpm
net-snmp-libs-5.2.1.2-fc4.1.x86_64.rpm
net-snmp-5.2.1-12.x86_64.rpm
Once i installed the rpms i added my own module to
the snmp agent by using the dlmod i.e i spec
