Hi,
I have resolved this issue, using the "persistentDir"
snmp.conftoken. I specified a different dir with write permissions.
The SNMP v3 trap were received correctly.
Thanks,
Partha

Hi,
Currently I am using "snmptrapd" as a SNMP Trap receiver. I am
receiving SNMP v1 and v2c traps correctly. But i am having problems in
receiving SNMP V3 traps. When starting "snmptrapd" as "root", i am able to
receive V3 traps, correctly. But as a normal user, the below output is
obtaine
it returns
"authorizationError" code in case of failure
But is it that net-snmp has not implemented it this way as specified above
?? ( maybe due to security concerns . ??? )

This is basically due to the access control settings of the agent.
It will refuse to talk to an unauthorised client.
I get that. But why is then an snmp ERROR code "authoriz
in snmpget for version 1 and
2c.
2. While specifying incorrect password/passphrase in snmpget for version 3.
3. While specifying incorrect agent port in an snmpget.
Hence is such cases, i thought if net-snmp outputs an error code, i can
process it accordingly.
Thanks,

Hi all,
Is there a way to capture SNMP v2 error codes [ noAccess (6) ,
wrongType(7), notWritable (17) ... ], through net-snmp commands ( snmpget,
snmpgetnext ... ) ???
Please do clarify,
Sarathy

SNMP specific error codes/messages ? Say i want to differentiate between an
