using v5.4.1. The archive appears to be the same v5.5.rc3 generated on

Hi Bart, thanks for the suggestions.
At present, your original workaround (add --with-libs=-lpthread) seems
to work with the original v5.5 archive so I'm going to attempt to stick
with it. Our build procedure requires a single net-snmp tarball and I'm
in no mood to re-engineer it at the moment.
