After a successful (whew) install of the Linux Mandrake 7.0 OS, with
SOUND even I find I'm having trouble installing StarOffice. Following
the directions on the ReadMe file from the StarOffice CD, I'm putting the CD
in the CD-ROM drive, logging in as "root", clicking on Konsole, and
I'm trying to determine if the modem in my Hitachi laptop IS indeed a
winmodem. On the front is says
Hitachi Mobilized Computing
PC card modem
with XJACK connector
x2 upgradeable
33.6kkps Data/14/4bps Fax
I've checked the web, and I'm not really getting anywhere

I'm trying to install Linux Mandrake 7.0 on a Pentium MMX, 32mg RAM, 1.96Gig
hard drive, Yamaha sound and video card. I'm going for a Linux only install.
However, after the bootup and a bit of this and that... I get an error
