Does anybody on the list use a laptop with a PCMCIA modem?
Which one do you have?
How much did it cost?
Have you had any problems with it?
I have a Dell laptop with an unsupported software modem, and I'm gonna ask
for a PCMCIA modem for the holidays.
TIA,
Drive safely,
Diesel Dan
Judging by experience, though, you'll never get people to agree on
either approach.
I'm only keeping track in case any one wants to see the tally when it seems
this thread has lots it's momentum.

os -
Yours is set to 0 right now. To make windoze the default, change the
line
from:
default 0 - default 2

Can someone familiar with GRUB please tell me how to alter the MENU.LST
file to make windows the default OS? I cannot use linux for internet
access, so until then, I'd like to make windows the dedfault OS. Here is
the file as I know it:
timeout 30
color black/cyan yellow/cyan

I have had resonable success in the past just taking the part numbers from
the item and putting them through a search engine. Some times it works ok,
sometimes it doesn't work at all, and every once in a while, I strike gold!

If so, can you recommend a PCMCIA modem to use with lnx4win?

I have lnx4win, searched for the file, but could not find it. I don't see how a txt file helps you boot linux? Then again, I am a total newbie.
