Hi All
I love the SNF! This is the third installation for me. This time, I'm
using a horrible keyboard with all kinds of sticky letters.
So... I meesed up my admin password on install (NOT root), so I cannot
authenticate to the web management screen. I know I can change it after

Hi all!
Let me start by aplologizing if this mail is HTML encoded...
GUI mail clients suck!
I recently tried to get qmail running on my 7.2 MDK box, and
ran into a few snags...
I found this site, where I downloaded MDK RPMs.
FYI... The cold boot workaround did work on the laptop!
thanks!

Excuse my jumping in here, but, did you load LM 8.0 and do you have the

Hi everyone!
I've been having a repeating issue on dual boot winME + MDK
machines, and I was wondering if anyone could help to shed some light
on the subject, or ideally point me toward a solution.
Machine A:
AMD Athlon 700 Mhz
DMA 20gig drive
376 MB
Are you saying that it may be bacause the two OSs are on the same HD?
Unfortunately with the laptop installing them on seperate HDs is not an option.

Hey Friends!
I've gotten my mandrake security firewall all set up, and
it's working great. Lan traffic can get out, IP addresses are
getting translated, and outside queries are dumped.
Great!
But now I throw our Web and FTP server into the mix. It's
going to live

Hi all!
I've got my mandrake security box up and running... All is
well, except for the few services that I want to make available to
the outside world.
I have the firewall configured to pass http traffic through
to the internal ip address of our web server. 192.168.1.26
Replying to my own post here...
For any other people that see this behaviour, be careful.
I got a abuse report from our ISP, a sign that the box was
rooted and was being used for malicious attacks.

Hi all
I've got a Mandrake 7.2 server running a few services for the
company I work for. Most importantly: FTP (configured for anonymous
uploads), and http.
A few days ago something happened...
Anonymous FTP connections are refused, all SSH connections
are refused,

The workaround I found is to go into the /etc/cron.hourly and locate
the files that don't work.
Mine was installed with mandrake 7.2: inn-cron-nntpsend
I wonder why it doesn't work... Anyway, I moved it to: /etc/cron.hourly.old/
Seems to be ok now...

Hi all!
Glad to see the religious discussions have stopped. =P
I've been running LM7.2 for several months now, and every 15
minutes or so, I get mail sent to root containing this:
Subject: Cron root@reactor run-parts /etc/cron.hourly
Can't open "/var/run/news/shlock786",
I'd like to see it!
