[newbie] SOMEBODY HELP/Sound configurations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am using mandrake 7.0 and have a soundblaster awe 64 card. The sound works fine after running soundconfig but the mixer settings never save after I shut down and when I reboot the system comes on very loud. Is there a way to save the mixer settings so when it boots it would not come on so
