You will want to use grub. I am sure there must be an rpm for it. It comes
with mdk 8.0 and maybe previous versions. You might find it at rpmfind.net or
see this link.

You want to look at SAMBA. It allows you to access both Windows and Linux
machines. There are lots of posts about SAMBA on this list. Also do some
searches using your browser to find info on installing and implementing
SAMBA. It is not too hard...hardest part seems to be syncronizing the

I notice that the entries in my Netscape Applications shows a different

Must be a bug in the cdrecord version on the Mandrake 8.0 cds. I went to
rpmfind.net and downloaded the latest version of cdrecord (1.10-1),
uninstalled the original version and installed the new version.
Now my cdburner works fine!
I have tried all the steps in the CD-Writing HOWTO to get my cdrom burner to
burn but no luck. I have created the image using mkisofs; I have tested the
CD-image by mounting it using the loop0 device and inspected the data; I have
issued the cdrecord -scanbus and gotten:cdrecord -scanbus

player software. My DVD drive works as a CD Reader only.

I discovered, using the hex editor, that the scripts on the cdrom from
"Linux Shells by Example" terminate each line with a carrage return
followed by a line feed (hex 0d0a) combination. The lines of the
identical script entered using vi terminates each line with just the
line feed (hex 0a).
