Nobody has got the story quite right. IBM and Microsoft didn't really have a
falling out, Microsoft suckered IBM and others. Microsoft was pushing OS/2
to developers, while working on Windows 3.1. and 3.1 software. They had no
intention of ever getting behind OS/2. Microsoft promoted OS/2 hevily
We used to have fits up at work with people who bundled cables together, and
got a problem like yours. Try moving the cables around while watching the
screen. Also see if they are connected tightly.

oth pretty fantastic and impractical. It was
written in Smalltalk. The system allowed for wonderful degrees of
information sharing and cooperative tool building, but it was
extremely resource intensive. Nicolas Werth did a similar system
called Lillith.
