I have a newbie problem with FTP-ing to my linux box from my Win2K machine. I'm
running the simplist of simple networks of just two CPU's networked together with an
cross-over cable.
The problem is that I can only FTP from Windows to my Linux box when I'm *on-line*.

I've recently installed Mandrake 8.1 on an old 350mhz machine I had sitting around.
Since then I've really enjoyed playing with all of it's features, it's a great OS for
me specifically as a CompSci major and can finally play on the linux end of our dual
boot machines at school :)
