luckily it already knew to boot from a CD...for the Win98 install.
unfortunately (see other Compaq post), without a CD it will just NOT do
a network install, had to swap the C

Now that was helpful Joe!
Try using the F10 or F12 key when you see a blinking cursor, probably in the upper
right-nad corner.
It will only flash for about 3 to 4 seconds maximum so you have to be fast! On older
systems Compaq
used to use different hotkeys to enter the BIOS.
