Well, what's the alternative? The 440xx are 66 mhz buses (or maybe a 100).
Actually the only problem I've ever had with mine was when 2.2.17 didn't
support agpgart for it. Once the new kernel hit. Stable, fast, no

Try running sndconfig from root. Hopefully it will clear up your problem. I had to
run sndconfig to get my sound running. It will configure both wav and midi sound.
