I have Caldera 2.2 installed. I see the same problem. Kppp acts a bit nuts.
I think its a combo of several things. About three tries and I get
connected.
At 33.6 it should be no problem.

Same thing here.. Call your ISP and ask them if VanJacobsen ( VJ )
compression is enabled
on your account.. If its not, tell them to turn it on.
