A couple of years ago I was given a dual boot Win98/Red Hat 5.2 PC for some computer related work I had done for a friend. At the time my ISP was dialin and I had all working very well. Since (about 2 weeks ago) I have gone to cable modem and just haven't taken the time to try to figure out how

hi, thought i'd toss out an answer to this -- with a warning -- i have never done this. =) remember what free advice is worth. anyhowz, i recall some time ago on this very list someone wrote that they did exactly that. they had Red Hat (i don't recall the version however) on their box.

Speaking from experience...you can upgrade, and it might even be preferable to installing the system fresh. (Especially if you have a SB16 PnP sound card, or possibly any PnP cards). I installed RH 5.2 some time ago. While I am still on the lower end of the linux learning curve, I still pride
