I have squid set up as a reverse proxy sending request to my machine with Outlook Web
Access on it. Squid seems to be working ok as I can get test pages from the OWA
machine no problems from an external address but I am having problems accessing the
OWA itself from external addresses, it

I also want it to authenticate clients as I want only certain users to

Im running squid on my mandrake 10 box, and I'm looking for a reporting
package so that I can find out which users are viewing which sites, have
some graphs to show how many sites accessed each hour etc.
Can anyone recommend anything? I have tried webalizer but thought it was

I have problem with access.log. This file is really big. It causes my squid
won't run.
Can I empty the File ? I am afraid to delete the file.
Is it safe to do this command ' /var/log/squid/access.log' ?

I was wondering if it was a good idea for a computer that's used to surf
through internet without acting as http server for any other computers to
install squid.
Maybe it would do the same work as the browsers' cache ? I'm just not sure
of what squid does.

Yup, you have to make sure that you have specified the correct path and users for any ACL's that you have. Check your squid.conf file. Also, while I am here, I am tackling your other problem. I am currently wading through all of the files you sent me, and I should get back to you asap.

Example, where I am working, we use PC anywhere which uses port 2000. Squid
nixes all requests to port 2000. Since this proxy server is behind a
firewall, security is not an issue.
