-OK try this - -chkconfig --del alsa -in a terminal as root - -You have an oss driver loaded and Alsa is default and probably -overriding your driver. -BTW your hard disk drive does not support linux according to the -manufacturer and also it does not have the right hardware to support -ATA66 or

hey... i thought i was asking a simple question... ( perhaps too simple to be answered? ) did the list get my message? this is not the first time i get no response when i come here with a question.. :o/ a simple dunno will do... i was asking why i have to open harddrake every time i boot
