The ramdisk error is caused by downloading the file as anything other
than binary ( netscape and some ftp clients don't). When I first
downloaded the 7.1 iso I did it with Netscape and got the error when I
tried to install. I ftp'd the file and it worked fine.

I havemadrake 6.5
installed on an AMD K-6 233 with 96M. Its running perfectly, but I want to
do a reinstall to get more familiar with the process.
I downloaded the CDROM iso
images and booted from the install CDROM. Just after the SCSI probe completes,
Linux begins "Loading second stage
s before I can try a new ISO - I'll try to report
back.

I am getting the same error message. I have an AMD 750MHz with IDE hard
drive and CD running the paid for version of Mandrake 7.0. I created a CD
from the 7.1 ISO file and tried an install by booting from CD. I get the
