I just got a new box from pricepc that is supposed to be 100% linux
compatible. It has AC'97 2.2 3D sound integrated into the motherboard.
Sound was not detected on install of 8.2 though. How do I go about
configuring it?

Have you confirmed that your sound is not configured?
I have an ALC650 codec which was supported by 8.2 however when it was
configure it didn't set any volumes.
On another note, rather then try to fight w/ 8.2, 9.0 should be out
