To get my Winmodem to connect to the ISP, I have to open up a
SuperUser terminal window, configure the modem, and start WVdial. I
then minimize the terminal window and run my Internet applications
as a regular user.
I have to do this sequence every time after I've shut down the Linux
I have been able to get Linux to recognize my LT
Winmodem and dial my ISP. However, as soon as the connection is made it is
immediately disconnected with the daemon dying unexpectedly. KPPP then locks up
Linux and I have to reboot.
Any ideas?

You probably do not want to hear this but get a real modem, it will make
your life simpler.

Before running out and buying a non-winmodem, you might try extending the
timeout in kppp:
In Kppp setup and under PPP, set the pppd timeout to 120 or more seconds.
See if this helps. if not, consider a better modem.

I am trying to make my connection work...
I have a ISA modem, it is configured however it does not accomplish to
