I read Direct CD CDRWs by mounting them with a file system of UDF, works fine. If
you are seeing autorun.inf and udf.exe, then Mandrake is probably detecting it as the
iso9660. If you manually mount the drive and use -t udf you should be OK. Try
something like:
mount -t udf /dev/cdrom
I just got off of this problem myself only I did not realize when I was trying
to read the CDRW media that I had used DirectCD to write on it. If it has
been written by DirectCD then you will have to go back to windows directCD
and convert it to a regular CDRW disc format. Linux cannot read
