Below, is a partial listing within webmin...of my /var/log/messages
for todays boot.
Sound works ok, IF I click on a wav, or mp3 etc...to hear it.
but, as for system sounds inside control center...I can't hear them
either on startup...or shutdown...or if just testing them, with its test
button.

You will need the init command a lot, so I will explain its use:
the init command switched the systems runlevel. The high the runlevel
the more is loaded. level 0 is off, level 1 is single user, level 3 is
text mode, I think level 5 is xwindows.

I have recently installed Mandrake 7.2 in my Toshiba 315 CDS and all running
great except for the sound card. Harddrake don't detect sound chip OPL3 SA2.
It worked fine under Mandrake 6.1. Does anyone have any idea? Any help would
be really appreciate. Oder

startup wav...at all. I tried to setup using SNDCONFIG in a
terminal...but it says I shouldn't configure under
if its PNP and it sees it disable PNP in ur BIOS thats how i got mine to work
and rerun sndconfig or lothar
I have a Sound Blaster PCI128 speaker but cant get
it to work on sndconfig. is there a driver I can use? if there is then
tell me where to get it and how to install it or just give me some advice...anything
will do...

sndconfig (this is automatic; if that doesn't work; try)
sndconfig --noprobe (this is manual, and you'll have to

'sndconfig' should work, although it should have been detected when you
did the installation.
