I've got 9.1 ... and can't find out if I have/how to install sshd.
'sshd' command gives nothing (doesn't find it) even as root. The 'Remove
Software' doesn't find any sshd string. The 'Install Software' only
finds ssh-monitor ...sooo? what does this mean? what's the package name
for sshd?

Hello all, me again!
As I sent before, I'm trying to use SSH server in home, to access on my
work. But as I said b4, my work firewall is blocking almost all outgoing
ports. So, i have to use SSH on the port 80. I successfully ran the daemon
on the port 80. To see that, I just netstat -pln, and

Allen,
As root, issue this command in a terminal window to see if the sshd server is running:
service sshd
More specifically,
Make sure that openssh, openssh-clients, and openssh-server are installed.
The openssh-askpass and openssh-askpass-gnome packages don't need to be
installed unless you want to tunnel an X display via your ssh connection.

I just did a fresh expert install and noticed that when doing FTP to either
a machine on my LAN or on the internet doing an ls or a get would just hang
for what seemed like forever before returning a response. I aslo noticed
that connecting to Samba shares took forever too. And doing a ping to

I would like to connect to my server with ssh but I need to have sshd..
Where can I get a sshd RPM for LM 6? What is the best version (stability
over cutting edge)?
Thanks!

I have been using ssh1.2.27 for about one month now. I think this is the
lastest version of secure shell. I have had no problems with it at all. I don't
think there is an rpm version of this, but the version it had compiled very
easy.

I don't believe there is an RPM for SSH. You'll have to compile it, IIRC.
Source should be available...check FreshMeat.
