I have just installed lm8.2 on a HP netserver E50, with a surestore
T20 tape drive.
when I do
mt -f /dev/st0/ status
or retension
or eod
it works ok, but if I try 'erase' I get input/output error.
I need to erase the tape (which was last used on winnt)
any clues?

I just installed a new SCSI tape drive, but HardDrake doesn't seem to
detect it. (it does show up in the SCSI drvice scan) What do I need to
do get LM8.1 to recognize the new drive?

I took a quick look at the documentation & the command is
taper -T scsi
but it still doesn't work. When I select "Restore Module" taper does not
resond & I cannot exit (same as with mt -f /dev/st0). And when I check the
status of the process, it again says "down". Agai

try using Taper.
as root use this command.
taper -T st0
thats the program I use for my tape drive and it works fine.

If your scsi card is recognised, then watch when the system boots. It
should show what linux thinks is connected to the controller. It's
probably /dev/st0 if it's the first tape drive. At the command prompt

Conner tape drive that uses TR-1 cartridges. It works in dos but not in linux.
Any suggestions?
