I don't know whether 3.3.6 is included with RH 7.3 (it was with all the previous RH

you can do as Shane suggested BUT in /etc/X11 NOT in /usr/X11R6/bin (at least in my RH

I've just upgraded, and have it working fine on my laptop,
but am unable to get anything other than a blank or blinky
screen on my NEC MultiSync LCD1700V monitor. The old
config, which worked under 3.3.6, is attached.
Any insights into how to make this work?
Thanks,

Hi,
I've installed the NVidia GLX and kernel drivers from the tar
files and everything seems to be set up as described in the installation
instructions provided by NVidia. However X fails to start and my
XFree86.0.log file has the following tail:

Try what I did earlier today. In /usr/X11R6/bin, replace the
softlink X -> XFree86 with -> XFree86_SVGA. Check that the SVGA server
exists, and install the rpm if it doesn't.
This very simply forces the system to use the 3.3.? server.

It probably isn't much help in this case, but I much prefer
Xconfigurator.it gives YOU the option of selecting different
devices/resolutions/speeds, rather than just reading defaults for your
detected hardware.

log is
stored (in Linux it's in /var/log/XFree86.0.log on top is the version number) doing X
-version (in
Linux)
have you tried 3.3.6?

Hmm... It might be worth noting, that quite some time
ago I had a similar problem with Mandrake 7.1 being
incredibly draggy (this was with an nVidia Riva TNT2
and XFree86 3.3.6 though). Recompiling the kernel from
vanilla sources fixed it. Try rebuilding first the
kernel, then X, from source. (Can
